Is Avondale House open?
Yes, Avondale House re-opened in March 2023. Guided tours are available daily, see here for scheduled tour times Avondale House Tour Times
The tour is recommended as suitable for children aged 8 years of age and upwards.

How do I get here?
Beyond the Trees Avondale is situated near Rathdrum in County Wicklow, just 40 minutes south of Dublin. It is easily accessible from all over Ireland by car. There are also public transport connections by rail and bus to the nearby village of Rathdrum. See full details here.

Is there accessible car parking available?
Yes, accessible car parking spaces are conveniently located in the main carpark on arrival. There is also a drop off point at the front of the visitor centre for those with limited mobility.

Where can I purchase tickets?
Visitors can purchase tickets in advance on our website and at the Visitor Centre on arrival. Please note last admissions are one hour before closing time. Click the link below.

Is there a group rate available?
Yes, the group rate is available for any group of 20+ visitors. Please book in advance to ensure we can accommodate your group booking at your preferred time or arrival.

Are children allowed on the Treetop Walk & Viewing Tower without supervision?
All children U18 must be accompanied by an adult on the Treetop Walk and Viewing Tower throughout their visit.

Is there a charge for the spiral slide?
Yes, it is €2 per slide payable at the entrance to the slide near the top of the Viewing Tower. Cash and contactless payments are accepted. The slide is subject to both weather & capacity. The slide will not operate in wet weather conditions including showers.

Is there an age restriction for young children on the spiral slide?
Children U6 must be accompanied by an adult on the spiral slide. The €2 fee applies to the accompanying adult only, U6’s slide for free.

Is the Treetop Walk and Viewing Tower accessible?
Yes, both push wheelchairs and motorised wheelchairs can access with ease. The exception is the mobility scooter, in this instance there are courtesy wheelchairs available to borrow if required.

Are there wheelchairs available on loan?
We have two courtesy wheelchairs available for visitor onsite use. Please note that valid photo ID will be requested prior to the allocation of each wheelchair.
Dogs are not permitted on the Treetop Walk & Viewing Tower experience, except for registered assistant dogs.

Carer’s admission
Visitors with additional needs may bring one accompanying carer free of charge when they purchase a ticket. The carer ticket is assigned by our team on arrival at the Visitor Centre reception. Carer ID is required, usual rates apply to all additional accompanying visitors.

Can I skate on the Treetop Walk?
Skates, skateboards, scooters, mobility scooters and hoverboards are not permitted on the Treetop Walk.

Can I take my dog with me?
Dogs are permitted on a leash throughout the forest trails and within the walled gardens. Only registered assistance dogs are permitted within the buildings and on the Treetop Walk and Viewing Tower.

Are BBQs permitted?
Disposable tray BBQs are permitted in the designated area of Avondale Forest Park near the carpark only.

Can I visit the Treetop Walk in all weather conditions?
The Treetop Walk will be open in all weather conditions. However the slide is not open during wet weather including showers. In the instance of a national weather alert warning, safety measures will be put in place.
